Foot blisters appear as a small fluid-filled bump on the upper layer of the skin on the foot. It is mainly caused due to continuous friction or rubbing in a particular area of the foot.

1. Epsom Salt

Epsom salt is one of the best remedies to treat foot blisters. It dries out the un-popped blister and encourages drainage. It is rich in magnesium and thus it helps in reducing the pain and inflammation in the affected area. It also prevents any further infection as it has antiseptic properties.

How to Use?

  • Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of Epson salt to a foot tub filled with warm water
  • Stir it in thoroughly
  • Soak the feet in this water for about 15 minutes
  • Remove your feet, pat dry
  • Apply a coating of petroleum jelly or vitamin E oil
  • Follow this treatment once daily for a few days
  • Once the blister pops, the Epsom salt may sting, so discontinue use

2. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is yet another effective remedy for treating foot blisters. It has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps in preventing infection and reduces inflammation.

How to Use?

  • Dip a cotton ball into apple cider vinegar
  • Gently swab it around the affected area
  • Allow it to dry for a few minutes
  • If it stings, dilute the apple cider vinegar with water first
  • Alternatively, mix 1/2 teaspoon of onion paste with 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar
  • Apply the mixture on the blister, allow it to dry
  • Rinse it off with warm water
  • Follow either of the remedies for a few days until the symptoms disappear

3. Aloe vera

Aloe vera is a natural ingredient that has anti-inflammatory properties and reduces redness and swelling. It keeps the skin hydrated and allows healing at a faster rate. It also has soothing effects on the skin and provides relief from the burning sensation of the blisters. It is rich in vitamin E which repairs the skin and rejuvenates it.

How to Use?

  • Apply fresh aloe vera gel on the blister
  • Allow it to dry on its own
  • Rinse it off with warm water
  • Another option is to prepare a mixture with equal amounts of aloe vera gel and vitamin E oil
  • Apply it on the blister and allow it to dry on its own
  • Rinse it off with warm water
  • Follow either of these treatments 2 or 3 times a day for a week

4. Green Tea

Green tea has anti-inflammatory compounds that help in reducing pain and swelling in the foot blisters. It also has several vitamins and antioxidants that help in healing the blisters naturally and faster.

How to Use?

  • Steep a green tea bag in 1 cup of hot water for about 5 minutes
  • Remove the teabag and allow it to cool
  • Put the moist tea bag on the blister for a few minutes
  • Repeat 4 or 5 times daily for a few days
  • Also, drink green tea 2 or 3 times daily to speed up the healing process

5. Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil has antibacterial and astringent properties that help in treating blisters. It also helps in reducing the risk of infection.

How to Use?

  • Dilute one part tea tree oil with three parts of any vegetable oil or plain water
  • Use a cotton ball to apply this solution to the affected area
  • Allow it to sit for about 10 minutes
  • Rinse it off with cold water
  • Follow this treatment 2 or 3 times daily for a few days
  • You can also use an ointment made with tea tree oil to treat the foot blisters

6. Castor Oil

Castor oil is rich in vitamin E and helps in keeping the skin moisturized. It can be used to cure foot blisters as it has anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties. It reduces the redness and itchiness associated with foot blisters. It also quickens the healing process.

How to Use?

  • Simply smear some castor oil on the blister
  • Leave it on overnight
  • Do this daily for 2 or 3 days so that the blister dries up fast
  • Alternatively, mix ½ cup of white vinegar and 3 teaspoons of castor oil
  • Rub this solution gently on the blister several times a day for a few days

The above remedies are tried and tested and found to be very effective in treating foot blisters. It must be used consistently for a period of time to avoid further infections. The foot blisters, it gets severe, must be shown to the doctor to get it treated accordingly. However, these home remedies are sufficient to cure them in a short period of time.
